Douglas Motorsports Park Racers and Patrons,
Here is an update on your race track. We have milled both ends of the track and have been ready
to pave for the last two weeks. Here in lies the problem, for the past 2 1/2 weeks it has done nothing but rain and snow in
Douglas. Therefore we have not been able to put the new pavement down. With this problem I regret to say that we will have
to CANCEL the May 17/18 test and tune. I hope that this does not discourage you from coming to the next race May 31/June 1.
I do believe that at the first race of the season you will be very happy with the improvements
of the race track. We have been working very hard to make this race track something that friends and family will
be able to enjoy for years to come.
Also, there has been some talk
about patch work to be done on the track. I would like to put your mind at ease. The paving crew has donated some patch work
on the track BEFORE they put a complete
1 1/2" overlay on the track. This is to make the surface as smooth as possible.
We are also planning a track improvement day, May 24, 25 and 26, Yes Memorial day weekend.
The guard rail must be installed before June 1, per NHRA. This means the Link Oil lane needs
1500', 3000' if you count the 2 rows of beam we need to install.
Volunteers are needed for this task, this will be more like a track clean up/improvement weekend.
The new Amp and old speakers will need to be installed and tested. Mowing, painting, tire dragging, weed control and
many more duties are needed before we open. Please try to take some time and show up over the long weekend so we can
have a successful 2008 season.
